Self Government

Participation

Participation with the government in North Korea is quite the opposite of that here in the United States. The people are constantly fed lies and unable to communicate with the outside world. The extreme censorship Kim Jong Un applies to the people there allows them to be mislead and helpless a the dictatorship gives no power to the people. The reasoning for censorship is they reject other governing methods so much they do not want the people to see that others have a say in what goes on and therefore not participate. All in all, Kim Jong Un makes participation impossible for the people of North Korea.
Liberty refers to the idea that citizens are free from government control. The people have natural rights and access to common knowledge that should be considered free. In the United States today limited restrictions are put on citizens to limit their liberty. People have to right to speak their minds and act as they choose as long as it doesn’t cause harm to others. a citizen may speak up against the government For example, information, whether it’s over the Internet or on TV, is not suppressed by the government. Although it may be censored, people are not fed false information.
Within North Korea, liberty is essentially nonexistent. Everything from daily activities to the media is entirely controlled by the totalitarian government. Lies about the dictator range from the discovery of a unicorn lair 220 yards from a Pyongyang temple in 2012, to Kim Jong Il accomplishing a world record golf score the first time playing. Citizens are not allowed access to the Internet, and television and news are completely run by the government. Daily life is controlled down to the distribution of food throughout the country. The application of liberty into North Korea would free up peoples ability to be a functioning member of society. Citizens would have access to information that would allow them to make educated decisions that could better their own lives and lead the country to prosper.
